New Art Supplies...

There's nothing like buying new art supplies to get you motivated to draw. I did these yesterday evening after spending 182 dollars on new toys. I'm not saying they're good, but after the Christmas holiday, which I spent pretty much artless, much to my shame, they feel like a breath of fresh air.

The one of the guy standing is the beginning of an animation I'm starting. I actually bought animation paper, something I haven't done since I finished school. Hopefully I'll get it done so I can post something.

Until then, enjoy!

Some storyboards I did for a project in animation school. Enjoy.

Cheesy cheesy cheesy...

Here is a sappy piece of work I did up and had put on a t-shirt for my girlfriend, and myself. We joked early in our relationship about making 'BFF' shirts for us to wear around others, and sicken them, and I had to go and take the joke TOO far. My girlfriend is starting to wonder what she is getting herself into. Enjoy!

Take that, Turkey!

It's a little late for a thanksgiving picture, but here it is anyway. Like my life, this picture doesn't bother making such pretenses as having a point...or friends, for that matter...or maybe that's just me.

Anyway enjoy!

Why would someone put fruit on a loom, anyway?...

Have you ever dressed in hurry? You're sitting in your living room, in the buff (or as close to it as I ever get while watching television in my apartment. I'm pretty sure my roommate would kill me if he walked in on me sitting on his girlfriends ex-couch in natures own) and you realize you forgot that important meeting with the PDA, or the FTN, or the NTC (okay, I'm just making them up now...though I bet you they are something), and you have to eat your breakfast, pack your bag, and it seems the last and least important thing on your mind is getting dressed. So you walk out your building door, take ten steps, and this is the first time you stop and ask yourself, "Did I remember to put pants on?"

Okay, now, I have never actually forgotten to put pants on when I'm going out, but the thought almost always comes to me. It's like those dreams you have where you're in the school cafeteria choking down a lightly fried chicken burger when you realize the only thing between you and the cold hard plastic-y feel of the mexican prision style bench is a pair of soft white 'fruit of the looms'.

I say all this because I'm trying to justify the picture I'm posting here. I mean, it would be kind of weird if I were to just put this up with no dialogue. Or worse yet. Put this up under the caption 'Final Fantasy XIV' or something. Okay, I'm done now. Like the new look?

[Edit: I just realized this would make two characters in a row with the 'hand-to-chin' thinking pose that I've posted. Hm. I'd say I think my originality is starting to wane, but there's no proof I had any to begin with. Really makes you stop and think.]

By The Rapids

Hey There!

Just a quick post. I just watched a video sent to me from the people at my new job. A news cast done about the show I'm working on. After watching this, I'm a little more excited to be working on this (not that I wasn't before).

I'm an animator, so I'm not sure I'll be able to post anything on the show, not until the episodes come out, at least. We'll see. Until next time, enjoy this video.

Trapped in Pear-idise...

Here's a little ditty I drew up last night. Perhaps I'll be doing more on Pear like figures in the near future. Until then, enjoy this little pic.

A lot has happened to me since the last time I posted...which as I think about it right now, I don't even know when that is. I'll check after I post this.

I graduated, leaving behind 20 years in the Canadian educational system - though I can't say there is a lot of regret in that fact. I'm also working. I actually landed a job in the industry. Working on an animated television show, still in production, that will hopefully be coming out...at some point. Hard to say in this industry. But I know one thing is for sure. I couldn't have landed a soft gig like this on my own. It's very...Providential, if you will. And you will. Oh. You will!

Until then!

Oldies and sorta goodies...

Here are some comic pages I did shortly after (or maybe during the end) high school. I think I may have been in high school, 'cause that last page is supposed to be in one of the hallways.

I just found all my old sketchbooks, and some more pages I did, so I may or may not be posting them on here in the future...along with more recent work. Enjoy!

Why you double crossing, back stabbing, Two-faced...

Hello,

I just got finished reading "Batman: The Long Halloween" for the first time, and it was awesome! Very good story, and Tim Sales art is amazing. It's subtle, and doesn't try to get in the way of the story, but is impressive none the less.

I got inspired, so I thought I'd take a stab at my version of the main baddie in this story. I'm hoping to get a clean up job on an animated movie sometime in the future, so I hope none of the potential future employees see this; I didn't spend a lot of time on clean up...or any, actually. Enjoy!

My ever changing throwaway portfolio...

The throwaway I handed in on this past Friday. It will hopefully change a bit. In some ways, it does display where I am artistically at this point, but I know I have better work in me. Just need to get it in here, and soon!

Three's a crowd...or so I'm told...

Here are the 'cleaner-ish' lines for the villains in my final film for school. As you can see, they pretty much look exactly like the previous images I show that I also told you would probably not be what they look like...well...I'm lazy, okay? Just accept it. I have! Okay, hope you enjoy!

Bad-guy trio...

Here they are...in their first versions. The baddies for my final film. They shall probably change. I'm not really sure they work together as a whole, as far as style is concerned...though, being more of an idea, a philsophy really, I'm not really sure how 'style' can really be concerned about anything. It can't really feel. It's not real. Silly reader. Enjoy!

Vance, the Emo..

Here is another character I created. This is for a 'take' I'm doing. This character, whom I have named Vance, is going to go from one emotional state, into another. He shall go from some bored emotion, to love sick, or infatuated. However you want to look at it. I have plenty of experience with this type of emotion, so it should be pretty easy to translate into animation form. Easier still, 'cause in the end, he doesn't get the girl, and that's kind of in keeping with the way my life seems to go. Enjoy!

The film development continues...

Here he is. The hero of our tale. This is actually the first version of him I did with this program, so I may redo him, but this is the basic design. I would like it to be a little more 'angular' than it turned out. I'll probably adjust it later on. This was done by scanning in my sketch into the computer, and colouring it in Toonboom, a relatively new animation program, pretty much like Flash...on steroids. It's a fun program. Anyway, that's all for now! Adios.

It's all coming together now...

And here is the villain of my final film. At least the first rendition of him. He'll likely go through more changes, but I just through this together, and like it. The Cowboy is coming together, too. Later on, I'll likely post more pictures, and a brief synopsis of the story, but this is all for the moment. Enjoy!

Bird on ice...

Well, look who hasn't been updating in a while...oh. That'd be me. Sorry 'bout that. I say this mostly to myself (and my mom), the only two people who I'm sure actually frequent this site. But in anyway, I am sorry that I haven't posted as much as I've wanted to lately. Lots of exciting things have been happening. I finished the first term of my graduating year, so taht means only four months stand between me instituational freedom. The picture I am showing is something I did for my character design portfolio. I was a little disappointed to find that I didn't have as much in there that I'd like to show as I'd hoped for. Seems I have a lot more work ahead of me that I thought. But that just means more drawing, and more stuff to post. Anywho, enjoy, and check back soon-ish!
